Why “Twelve Below”
Nautical dawn — the point twelve degrees below the horizon, where the horizon first becomes visible against the dark.
It's the moment before the moment — not yet light, but already turning. The first line you can make out between up and down. We named the studio after it because that's the kind of software we want to make: things that help you find your bearings, and make the early part of the day, or the early part of something new, easier to move through.
People aren't just one thing.
We think humans are complex, and a little paradoxical — capable of quiet discipline and total nonsense in the same afternoon. Most apps pick a lane. We'd rather build for every layer: the version of you doing a breathing exercise before a hard conversation, and the version of you idly tapping a screen at 1am for no reason at all. Both are real. Both deserve software that's actually good.
